2021 Call for Proposals 2021 Theme: Building Connections & Action for the SDGsver en español The 2021 UGC virtual gathering Call for Proposals is open until 2 July 2021 at 6:00 p.m. EDT. Launched in 2019 with the purpose of encouraging collaboration and collective action in higher education to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the University Global Coalition (UGC) recognizes that the two years since its formation have seen monumental shifts. The challenges of the pandemic have shown us the interconnectivity of the SDGs while illuminating and increasing challenges in equity, justice, and accessibility both in higher education and beyond. The UGC seeks to use our 2021 Annual Gathering to empower individuals and universities to act upon the SDGs and connect to others in the field, with a focus on increasing accessibility, rebuilding a more just and equitable world, and growing future generations of leaders. Given the 2021 global milestones of COP26, the UN Food Systems Summit, and the ongoing challenges of accessibility, equity, and justice deepened by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will accept a wide range of SDG-based submissions, with encouragement to tie proposals to the issues outlined above. We are accepting proposals to lead 45-minute virtual sessions on teaching, research, operational practices, and partnerships (within and beyond) higher education that highlight these themes. Suggested session formats include (but are not limited to): a mini-workshop, a structured conversation, or panel presentations. All submissions must: cover topic/s or project/s that are applicable to a broad variety of stakeholders and/or are scalable, pertain to at least one SDG, actively engage the audience. Submissions are strongly encouraged to include as many of these criteria as possible: highlight student voices (in content and/or through student presenters); highlight issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion; highlight issues related to the global milestones described above (COVID recovery, COP26, UN Food Summit); highlight partnerships (inside and outside of higher education, community, international, interregional); focus on issues connecting multiple SDGs; provide perspectives from a wide variety of cultures and regions; and highlight creativity and innovation. In an effort to encourage proposals and increase participation from multiple regions, the conference will be held on two separate days during different times (27 Sept 7 pm - 11 pm ET (28 Sept 8 am - 12 pm KST) and 28 September 9 am - 1 pm ET/2 pm - 6 pm CET. These times are subject to shift based upon the number of proposals received and accepted.Application InstructionsWelcome to the University Global Coalition 2021 Call for Proposals.
