SUMMARY:Maternal Mortality: Beyond an Indicator
DESCRIPTION:Maternal mortality remains a priority of the Sustainable Development Goals\, under the “Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”. Target 3.1: By 2030\, reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100\,000 live births\, is a matter that concerns professionals from different backgrounds and also families that surround women when they are pregnant and after birth. Journalists\, health providers\, doctors\, nurses\, public policy designers\, politicians\, are just a short list of who should be involved in this matter. \nThis discussion-based event\, hosted by the International Observatory in Public Health will present the connection of Maternal Mortality to the SDGs and the importance of meeting the targets. As our aim is to make this event as interactive as possible\, it will begin with a quiz about Maternal Mortality basic concepts. Afterwards\, we will present a brief conference which will include the key points regarding Maternal Mortality and how to build and interpret the specific indicator (Maternal Mortality Rate); these previous two points are meant to create a consensus on knowledge. Afterwards\, the panelists interventions will start\, they will each have the floor to share their perspectives and evaluation of the maternal mortality situation in their countries\, we will have panelists from Colombia\, Perú\, México and the USA. As the individual conferences end\, the panelists will jointly outline take-home messages and put forward new ideas to face Maternal Mortality. Finally\, the event will conclude with time for debating the ideas\, questions and perspectives typed by the audience in the comment box during the conference.\nProfessionals from different disciplines are welcome to participate. \nPresenters: \nMaria Luisa Latorre. Director of the Masters Program in Public Health. Fundación Universitaria Juan N. Corpas. Colombia.\nLaura Castro. Master ‘s student in Public Health. Fundación Universitaria Juan N. Corpas. Colombia.\nMarcos L González. Master’s in Biomedical Sciences. Des Moines University. USA.\nJose L. Oropeza. Master’s student in Public Health. National Institute of Public Health. SUMMARY:Inner Development Goals
DESCRIPTION:What Inner Shifts or human growth needs to happen in order for us to reach the SDGs collectively? \nThe Inner Development Goals is a framework launched in 2022 to support the achievement of the 17 SDGs.\nThe starting point for the IDG initiative was the reflection that the SDGs provide goals and a vision of what needs to happen\, but progress along this vision has so far been disappointing because we lack the inner capacity to deal with our increasingly complex environment and challenges. \n“The success of an intervention depends on the interior condition of the intervener.” Bill O´Brien \nThe IDGs framework maps which abilities\, qualities or skills we need to foster among individuals\, groups\, and organizations that play crucial roles in working to fulfill the SDG. It involves a range of cognitive and emotional skills. \nThe 5 Categories with the 23 skills and qualities:\n– Being – Relationship to Self\n– Thinking: Cognitive skills\n– Relating: Caring for others\n– Collaborating: Social Skills\n– Acting: Driving Change \nWatch this video (https://vimeo.com/643897255) to learn more about the IDG and the scientific advisors which are involved\, such as:\nAmy C. Edmondson\, Ph.D.\, Harvard Business School\nJennifer Garvey Berger\, Ph.D.\, Harvard University\nOtto Scharmer\, Senior Lecturer\, MIT Sloan School of Management\nPeter Senge\, Senior Lecturer\, MIT Sloan School of Management\nRobert Kegan\, Ph.D.\, Harvard University\nDaniel J.
