SUMMARY:Call for Papers Deadline: Regional Sustainable Economic Development around the Global
DESCRIPTION:Monmouth University and the McMullen Family invite submissions for the first annual workshop on “Regional Sustainable Economic Development around the Globe”\, on June 6–7\, 2025. The workshop is co-organized by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission\, the Institute of Global Business and Society at TH Köln\, and CED (Center for Economic Development & Social Change). \nClimate change\, and the responses in both the public and private sector have led to an increasing presence of sustainability in all parts of the economy. Much attention is given to the analysis on the global and national level\, while also at the regional level these challenges need to be addressed. According to the OECD (2023)\, “quality regional development policy is essential for inclusive economic outcomes\, well-being\, environmental sustainability\, and resilience. Regions\, cities and rural areas play a crucial role in responding to megatrends including climate change\, digitalization\, demographic shifts\, and globalization.” The workshop aims to bring together academics\, policymakers and industry representatives to discuss these challenges and to learn from each other. \nTopics include\, but are not necessarily limited to: \n\nclimate risks\, climate change and the impact on the regional economy\nregional economic and environmental policies\, strategies and management\nsustainable coastal development\nenergy and ecological transition\ngreen  transition\, resilience and inclusiveness\nclimate change\, migration and the regional economy\nESG\, CSR and environmental management\ngreen finance\, insurance of climate risks\nmicro\, small and medium sized local businesses and the challenges of climate risks\nsustainable entrepreneurship and green marketing\n\nStudies can be on regions from advanced\, emerging or developing economies. \n  \nFor more information on the call for proposals and conference (in person June 6-7\, Monmouth University\, West Long Branch\, New Jersey): \nRegional Sustainable Economic Development around the Globe \n \n

SUMMARY:Eco-Equality and Gender Equity: A panel of Millennium Fellows taking the lead
DESCRIPTION:The intersection of gender and climate action today addresses humanity’s most pressing issues in the 21st century. Environmental justice cannot be imagined without gender equity. An environmentally conscious world necessitates the importance of integrating gender perspectives into climate action. And to achieve gender equality we cannot gloss over the need to evaluate\, address and question the disproportionate effect of climate change over marginalized gender identities. \nJoin Millennium Campus Network’s Millennium Fellows from the Class of 2024 as they share the diversity of ways they advanced the sustainable development goals of climate action and gender equality. Focusing on collective action and sustainable solutions\, the event draws attention towards the interrelationship between achieving gender equality and climate action. This event will highlight how gender-responsive approaches can enhance the effectiveness of sustainability efforts and how climate action is unimaginable without addressing the ever increasing gender parity in their specific socio-political and economic contexts.\n————————————————————————-\nMillennium Campus Network (MCN) is a Boston-based\, global non-profit convening and training 21st-century social impact leaders to advance all 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals each year. Through the Millennium Fellowship and Millennium Oceans Prize\, MCN has helped 19\,000+ young leaders use their voices and power to make a difference on campus and in community. \n  \nAdrija Das\, Alumni Advisor\, Millennium Campus Network (organizer)\nSimran Kaur\, University Relations Manager\, Millennium Campus Network (organizer)\nAriel Ackermann\, Director of Career Services\, Millennium Campus Network (organizer)\nSiya Sindhe\, University of Mumbai\, India (moderator)\nMaryjane Johnpedoro\, Nile University\, Nigeria (panelist)\nHaniya Randhawa\, COMSATS University\, Pakistan (panelist)\nSonia Ugwunna\, University of Lagos\, Nigeria (panelist)\nAshley Young\, Columbia University\, USA (panelist) \nRegister: https://mcnsdgactionweek.paperform.co
