DESCRIPTION:There is no doubt about  climate change . It is clear that there is a climate emergency that puts millions of people at risk\, and the most vulnerable population suffers the most. In order to raise awareness on this topic\, Ayuda en Acción presents 1Planet4All\, a project designed to encourage youth action against climate change. We propose this 1’5h workshop addressed to young people aged between 18 and 35 to discuss\, inform\, raise awareness\, and provide the participants with answers to the current climate and social challenges. \n  \n11am-12:30 CET/5-6.30 am EST \n  \nSe trata de un taller de alrededor de 1 hora de duración dirigido a jóvenes a partir de 18 años. Su finalidad es informar\, sensibilizar y dotar a sus participantes de capacidad de respuesta frente a la actual crisis socio-ambiental generada por el cambio climático. DESCRIPTION:Register at: https://kaust.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_cMkWPyTlRK2Vf7qDS3yYrA \nYou are invited to the second event of the Spring 2022 Sustainability Seminar Series\, on Tuesday\, March 1st\, 2022\, at 7:00 pm AST .\, entitled “How to Avoid Greenwashing: Towards a Rigorous Life Cycle Assessment” by Professor Heather MacLean\, the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Systems and Technology Assessment\, University of Toronto. \nAbout the Speaker\nHeather MacLean is the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Systems and Technology Assessment and a professor of the Department of Civil Engineering and holds joint appointments in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry and the School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Toronto. Professor MacLean’s expertise is in the development and application of life cycle-based approaches for the techno-economic and environmental evaluation of conventional and alternative energy systems. Over the last 15 years she has worked closely with the automotive\, oil\, electricity\, and biofuel industries as well as Federal and provincial/state governments. She has served on industry and government advisory committees in both Canada and the U.S. Her research has informed the development of energy and environmental policy in Canada and the U.S. Professor MacLean was recently awarded the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)’s Excellence in Education Award for Promotion of Sustainable Practices. She has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. \nAbout the Facilitator:\nEman M. Alhajji is a Ph.D. candidate in Materials Science and Engineering under the supervision of professor Husam N. Alshareef at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Her primary research is focused on innovating nanocarbon materials for electrochemical energy storage. She completed her undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University (2018) after receiving the prestigious KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP) award. She is also an alumnus of the Grand Challenge Scholars program (GCSP) of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE). She is also the founding president of Students for Sustainability\, an organization aspiring to drive change towards sustainable development with a positive impact. Recently\, she has been selected as a young change maker for the 2021 Middle East Mediterranean Summit in Switzerland and a young speaker of the Youth Green Summit in Riyadh\, in a panel discussion with HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman\, Minister of Energy\, titled “Taking the Initiative: Youth Leading Climate Action. As the president of Students for Sustainability\, she led innovative enrichment programs with multidisciplinary collaborations on campus and outside campus\, both nationally and internationally.
